Hello, I'm Melissa or Melly, and I make and design all of my creations in a rural setting in County Sligo, Ireland. Where I live is surrounded by woodland and fields. I live with my husband, our 9 rescue cats, 4 rescue dogs and 1 horse, 1 pony and 2 shetland ponies.
I take a lot of inspiration in my making from nature and animals. Which is handy as where I live gives me a lot of inspiration, as does our furry family!
I got back into working with polymer clay and jewellery making after a chronic illness diagnosis in 2019.
I set up Melly's Handmade Creations in 2020 and I started attending markets in September 2021. Thank you for being on this journey with me.
My logo is from my love of unicorns and my favourite colour is purple. It fits me perfectly!
I hope you enjoy exploring my collection of hand-crafted creations. Every item is uniquely and lovingly designed and handmade by me.

I suffer from sensitive skin and I wanted to make beautiful jewellery that people could enjoy, without it causing irritation.
I actually test all the jewellery components myself, to make sure. This works out well for me, as I have a habit of falling I love with what I make!
Much to my husband's amusement, as he likes to remind me that we don't live in a mansion!
With the beauty of handmade, each one of my creations, from the jewellery to the Pocket Anxiety Buddies is 100% unique, each one will be different from the other.

It's important to me to show you behind the scenes and that I'm the one making my creations.

Before Melly's Handmade Creations, I worked with horses and animals.
I had always been interested in arts and crafts, but it was mostly a hobbie.
However, in June 2019 I was diagnosed with a chronic illness called Dysautonomia. Dysautonomia effects the autonomic nervous system and comes with many challenges. Due to this I found that I could no longer do the job I loved.
I turned to art for therapy. I used to work with polymer clay when I was younger and picked it up again. I absolutely loved what I was making and I set up a Facebook page in August 2020.
As it happens you all loved what I was making too. Thank you for that, it means the world to me.
I absolutely love what I do, I'm passionate about it and love being part of the handmade world.
It also means that I can make and attend markets without it putting to much strain on my body, I do have to schedule in rest days!
Your support and love for what I do really does mean the world to me, not only does it mean I can continue to do what I love, it also means I can purchase new materials, as well as support my medical needs with my illness.
